What is a Sworn Translation Job?

A sworn translation is a job where the document must be legally sealed or notarized (and translated) by a translator who is certified by the government of the country where he/she resides. In these jobs the client must receive the actual physical document in order to have a completed job. Because the exchange of the document happens in the real world, and the financial transaction in the virtual world, Translator's Corner has developed a procedure to prevent fraud.

Sworn Translation Fraud prevention procedures

In order for a client to receive his final translated document he/she must present the translator with a receipt provided by the website. This receipt has the following security features:

  • The Translator's Corner Logo
  • A unique watermark
  • A unique randomly generated key code

The translator will be provided a document that will allow him/her to verify the client's receipt, it will include:

  • The Translator's Corner Logo
  • The same unique watermark
  • The sum of the digits in the key code.

Upon receiving the client's receipt, the translator must verify that the watermarks match, and the sum of digits also matches.
The translator will then be required to enter the key code into the SecureTrans job, to prove that the document was delivered to the client, and the SecureTrans job will then be in the same Step as if the translated document had been uploaded in a regular job. (Pending Client's approval for the release of the funds)

This security procedure is used whenever the client requests a physical printed document instead of just an electronic file.

Tip

The client should review the document to make sure the necessary government sanctioned seal (possibly including the translator's identification and/or signature) is included on each page of the document.
